About Artist
Sunil Kumar is a Bangladesh-based contemporary visual artist working across painting, drawing, oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, and mixed media. With over three decades of experience, his practice focuses on figurative and narrative-driven art that explores emotion, memory, human presence, and evolving cultural identity.
Rooted in expressive mark-making and layered visual language, Kumar creates emotionally charged compositions that balance structure with spontaneity. His works evoke psychological depth, quiet introspection, and a timeless sense of human connection, positioning his practice within contemporary figurative expressionism.
In his recent body of work, Kumar examines the gradual transformation of human beings into increasingly mechanical entities. Through a distinctive visual language, he reflects on the growing influence of technology on everyday life and the subtle erosion of emotional sensitivity and human depth.
He holds a Master of Fine Art in Drawing and Painting and has developed a practice that bridges academic discipline with experimental exploration. His works are included in the collection of the Bangladesh National Museum and in private collections across Bangladesh, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and India.
Sunil Kumar’s work is sought by collectors interested in emotionally resonant, narrative-rich contemporary art. His paintings create meaningful visual experiences that enhance contemporary living spaces while engaging deeply with the complexities of human existence.
